AS 5216:2018 “Design of post-installed and cast-in fastenings in concrete”
In 2018, Standards Australia published AS 5216:2018 “Design of post-installed and cast-in fastenings in concrete,” superseding SA TS 101:2015. Both documents have the same scope and technical content, however AS 5216:2018 includes editorial changes. The National Construction Code NCC-2016 references SA TS 101:2015. The recently released and now current NCC 2019 references AS 5216:2018.
The scope of AS 5216:2018 includes the design and testing of mechanical and chemical anchors and cast-in channel for permanent and safety critical applications. Safety critical applications are fastenings whose failure may result in collapse or partial collapse of the structure, endanger human life and/or cause considerable economic loss.
fischer products with an ETA fulfil all the testing requirements of Appendix A of AS 5216:2018
fischer products are tested according to the European Assessment Document (EAD).
In Europe, EADs replace the previously known ETAG001 parts 1 to 5.
The proof of suitability of fischer products according to AS 5216:2018 is evidenced by an evaluation report issued by an independent third party such as a European Technical Assessment (ETA). Some examples are in the table below.
As of when, is AS 5216:2018 valid?
AS 5216:2018 was released in May 2018. It is referenced in NCC 2019 (National Construction Code). As a result, AS 5216:2018 is the current and official document to follow to satisfy the deemed-to-satisfy requirement of NCC 2019.

Additional Fixperience modules are available upon request.
When C-Fix has been used to design and specify an anchor according to AS 5216:2018, a report can be produced that includes the installation instructions for that application.
These reports can then be given to the installer so that they can ensure that the installation is according to the design and hence the standard. Screenshots of a sample report are provided below:

In addition to our own team who are trained in the FIXPERIENCE software, we are supported by the fischer engineering support team who can assist with general questions and specific design challenges.
In April 2014 Microsoft stopped the support for the operating system Windows® XP. Due to this, there are no further updates, etc. anymore. For that, the developer stopped the support for the operating system Windows® XP. The user of the software which is already applying Windows® XP can contact us.
